I got a really nice note from a student today and thought you should get one too because you are my teacher at CF. Thank you for being a great trainer/teacher.  You challenge me and also take my individual needs and abilities into consideration (as you do with all). Even on days when I feel weak or frustrated because my body cant/wont do something, you are always encouraging and still challenging. I really appreciate it. Your gym (i.e. you, the other trainers and the other people) are just awesome. Its been and always will be hugely beneficial for me physically and mentally.   Its an all around great gym.
Please also tell Marlo thank you. Its really great that she is around more and she is so nice and constructive. Great trainer.
Have a good evening.

Demetrios Marinides:

Hey Tim,
I didn't get a chance to swing by and say a proper goodbye before I left town the other day. I thought I was gonna be able to stop in, but it didn't work out. Just wanted to let you know I've really enjoyed training at your gym over the last year or so. It's a great environment and great attitude in there and I looked forward to working out there every day. You run a great operation and although I swung more towards the barbell stuff recently, it was not due to any shortcomings in the training you've set up. I've loved watching the increase in gym members and the difference it's made in people's lives. Keep up the good work. If I'm ever passing through Corpus I'll definitely make a point to come in for a drop-in. Catch you later, take care.
Best Wishes,
Demetrios Marinides

Tim!  How are you? I just wanted to let you know I am moving back to Arizona  tomorrow and I wanted to take a moment to say a big "THANK YOU!"
Thanks for the great coaching, encouraging words and for pushing me to do more when I became complacent during the workouts.
Like I told Maggie, when I first walked into Sea City I felt weak and insecure and left there feeling strong and confident!!  I will definitely spread the word about Sea City to all of my Corpus family and friends.   I will continue to crossfit though I know I won't find a box that comes close to yours.
I'll be back in CC in January so I will drop in for a wod then :)
Take Care!!

Kendell started coming to SeaCity CrossFit in the beginning of September 2011.

Q: How did you originally hear about CrossFit, and for how long now have you been at it?
A: From my buddy Joe Willesden, who was already a member. I've been at it for 6 months.

Q: What were some of your original goals? Have any of those changed?
A: To get in shape for our hunting trip in the mountains in Colorado. Now my goals are to get in the best possible shape I can and be able to correctly do all the exercises each day.

Q: Has your perception of CrossFit changed?
A: At first I had no idea what I was getting into. CrossFit is a total body workout.

Q: What do you like best about it?
A: Every day is something different. I like the mix and match of exercises.

Q: What is your least favorite exercise?
A: I know what you're thinking (burpees) NO! It's overhead squats. I suck at them, need lots of work to get better.

Q: What is your occupation?
A: I work for Nalco, a specialty chemical company that services the oilfield, refineries, power plants. I work at the Flint Hills refineries.

Q: What changes have you noticed in yourself, both physically and mentally, since becoming a part of SCCF?
A: When I first started I was very intimidated by all the young people running circles around me. I kept telling myself that I was here for me and just keep trying. By sticking with it I have made huge strides physically by losing 35#. Now I'm sometimes able to keep up with the kids!

Q: What are some of the goals you have for yourself this year?
A: To be able to do every exercise without substituting something else. Handstand pushups, double unders, toes to bar. It bothers me to sub an exercise, I want to do what's on the board.

Q: What is your favorite WOD?
A: I get up every morning and check the website, and the ones that make you say "who the hell thinks this stuff up?" are always the best ones.

Q: Least favorite WOD?
A: None, some just take longer to recover from.

Q: Did you think a sport of elite fitness would ever be for you?
A: I never thought I would be hooked on workouts. Now when I miss a WOD I feel like I'm cheating.

Q: What is something people might not know about you?
A: I have a floating cabin in Baffin Bay where I try to spend all my free time. Nothing is better than watching the sun come up standing waist deep throwing lures to a monster trout.

Q: What is your favorite paleo meal?
A: A good steak and grilled asparagus

Q: Favorite cheat meal?
A: I have not cheated during the challenge, but I sure miss my wife's Mexican food.

Q: Advice for newbies?
A: Don't stop coming to the gym. I would to tell you it gets easier but it don't. I would hate to know I had to start over again. After a couple months you'll be hooked.
